Where do you go when social media monopolies censor, shadow-ban, filter for bad words, ect? There are explicitly pro-free-speech alternatives but goodthinkers will be told to stay away from them. So if you want to have a political debate between both major sides where individuals can be quite certain that if they type a comment others will see it, where do you go?
The PredictIt page for the Democratic nomination currently has 1.1 million comments. In comparison, the most popular YouTube videos have on the order of 5 million comments. Prediction markets are quite obscure and if you look at the latest comments you’ll find that almost none of them are discussing the market itself. They are discussing the election in general.
One wonders if this was an intentional strategy from PredictIt to boost their ratings. Probably not.
